Added Value UK shone in the 2005 Marketing Employer of the Year survey, organised by Marketing magazine and Stopgap.
Added Value was ranked fourth for ‘Marketing Employer of the Year Awards 2005’ – Top 100 Companies and ranked second for the ‘Best Employee Benefits within a Marketing Services Agency’ category.
Other categories where Added Value hit the top 5 included:
- Marketing Services Agency ‘Employer of the Year’ Awards 2005 – Added Value 2nd
- Best Marketing Services Agency for Leadership and Brand Values – Added Value 5th
The Marketing/Stopgap survey was established in 2001 with the aim of recognising the best Marketing Employers in the UK; those companies who value their staff and demonstrate a commitment to their professional development.
A staggering 2,000 marketers, representing a total of 283 companies, completed the survey, making it a real and valuable contribution to the debate on the work place. Marketers were asked to rate their company across a range of areas from management style and brand values to career development and benefits.
How Added Value goes beyond the obvious for their employees
Added Values’ principle aim is to ‘Go Beyond the Obvious’ in everything it does and this applies equally to its employee benefits as it does to developing marketing solutions for clients.
At the heart of the business are several values around which key Added Value behaviors are founded and appraised, and to which benefits are structured around.
Challenge & Inspiration: sabbatical after four years, allowing people extended travel experiences and the chance to learn a new skill such as language or cookery courses for example.
Intellectual Substance: regular Show ‘n’ Tell sessions take place to share latest innovative thinking and breakthrough ideas. In addition, guest speakers are invited to monthly ‘Evenings of Stimulation’ to share insights into their professions, giving our people a fresh perspective on the world – these have included a look into bee keeping, drawing classes for beginners, creative writing session conducted by an acclaimed author and insights into the world of film making.
The Power of Freedom & Play: socializing as a company is encouraged through annual Christmas and summer parties. Numerous charitable events have been initiated by our employees this year with funds raised being matched by the company. Examples of the events range from an Added Value cookery book (with recipes contributed by employees) & fancy dress day for the Tsunami Appeal; race night to support local charities like The Shooting Star Hospice; and upcoming for Christmas 2005, all employees will be given time off to apply their hands, hearts & minds to one of three nominated charities; one global, one national and one local to Added Value’s offices in Hampton Wick, Surrey.
Openness & Respect: to keep employees stress free, a masseuse comes in once a week to offer reflexology, Indian head massage or back massage. Personal & professional development is reviewed twice a year with 360 appraisals and the internal newsletter ‘The Badger’ helps stimulate communication internally with a good mix of business, gossip and general information. The leadership team make a point of rewarding people who ‘go beyond the obvious’ in their work via quarterly GOBTOB Awards. These awards acknowledge outstanding performance by individuals & teams who have pushed the boundaries of our approaches in everything from pitches to the way we do our admin.
